Lovely Professional University and McGill, which is Canada’s foremost University have collaborated to organise a Global Conference, ‘ISSWM’17(Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Water Management)’ on November 17, 2017, to be held at the LPU Campus.
Several studies conducted by the World Bank and other international agencies show that 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world population would be living under water stress conditions by 2025. As speculated by Fourth World Water Development Report, only 20% of the globally produced waste-water is presently being reclaimed. Due to lack of infrastructure and well-regulated policies, a large volume of untreated waste-water is getting mixed with good quality natural water systems, which is then subsequently utilized for irrigation, animal husbandry, industrial processing and household use.
This calls for innovation and technology to intervene and ensure wise and sustainable water management. LPU has invited adepts and scientists from across the world to propose efficient water management solutions. Academicians, corporate professionals, policymakers, practitioners and experts working in the field of business management will come together in order for exchange of information and discuss diverse challenges and strategies faced by the world community. During the conference, these eminent people will propound strategies and solutions on how polluted water can be re-utilised with utmost efficiency. The conference, the first of its kind being hosted by LPU, is likely to make path-breaking recommendations.
