LPU School of Hotel Management and Tourism has conducted a two-day ‘International Conference on Tourism & Hospitality Sector’ at University campus. Topic taken for profound consideration is “Sustainable Developmental Goals and Management Practices in Tourism & Hospitality.” Hundreds of national and international ‘Tourism Experts’ have participated in this mammoth conference to churn out productive solutions for sustainable tourism not only in India but across the world also. Participating prominent international and national tourism experts of academia and industrial areas were from the US, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, different Indian States and Union Territories.
Presidential address as Chief Guest of the day was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Prof S P Bansal. Considering all human beings as tourists in one or the other way, he laid stress on poverty reduction and environment-saving for achieving sustainable development goals in the tourism sector. He also appreciated LPU endeavours for re-orientation of higher education in the country on the tunes of Nalanda and Takshila and as per top international standards. Guest of Honour, Deputy Adviser NAAC, Prof Devender Kawday talked about inter-relation of quality of human resource and education system in the tourism sector. For sustainability, he put forward to plan all things properly. Advising, tourism sector students, he held that success means becoming the best person of oneself. So, always adopt a regular schedule instead of doing things abruptly and irregularly.
The opening address to the conference was made by ‘Special Guest’ of the day Director, University Utara Malaysia, Prof Dr Azilah Kasim who forwarded integration as a critical success factor towards sustainable development goals. Key Note Speaker Director ICCCR, Jammu University, Prof Deepak Raj Gupta motivated all to be the eco-friendly and true caretaker of nature’s designs, which provides us abundant sources to prosper well. Taking many illustrious and easy examples, he wanted all to be hard-working, passionate and good human beings by accepting all challenges in life for the betterment of the tourism and hospitality sector.
Side by side many technical sessions are also arranged where eminent scholars from the top educational institutions including University of South Florida; Business University Indonesia; King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah; Kastamonu University Turkey; Shillong University; Pondicherry University; IGNOU, Kashmir University; Kota University Rajasthan; Panjab University Chandigarh; MDU Rohtak; Central University of Himachal Pradesh; GNDU Amritsar and more are participating.
