Eleven students from Lovely Professional University are representing the nation at the Tokyo Olympics in wrestling, hockey, athletics and Paralympics. This comprises nearly 10 % of the Indian Olympians at Tokyo from LPU, a remarkable achievement for one University. LPU has announced cash rewards for its students who win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. The university will be giving INR 50 lacs to gold medal winners, INR 25 lacs to silver and INR 10 lacs for bronze.

We established our world class sports complex at LPU and have created a team of highly qualified national and international trainers and coaches. I am very pleased to see that our efforts are already producing results.’’
LPU students have won laurels at several national and international level sports competitions in the past. Manju Rani, who won a Silver medal at the 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, completed her graduation from LPU. Unnati Sharma, student of LPU won a Silver medal at the Senior National Ranking Judo Championship 2019. Also, Nishad Kumar created an Asian record, while winning Gold in the men’s high-jump category-T46/47 at the 12th Fazza International Championships for World Para Athletics Grand Prix-2021 held in Dubai. LPU gained number one position amongst all the private universities in the country at Khelo India National Universities Competition 2020.
