Lovely Professional University – Human Resource Development Center organized 2nd 5-day Online Short Term Course, ‘National Workshop on Statistical Analysis using SPSS’ w.e.f June 22 to 26, 2020.
The course received active participation of 153 Faculty Members and Research Scholars from 26 Universities across India and abroad.
Prof.(Dr.) Sanjay Modi, Executive Dean, Lovely Faculty of Business and Arts, Lovely Professional University in his inaugural expressed hope that the participants would enhance research acumen from an applied research perspective and shall contribute meaningfully to address societal issues. He suggested, “resource persons should provide opportunities for data analysis on contemporary issues like rising prices of petroleum for immediate relevance of research initiatives”.
Prof. (Dr.) Sunaina Ahuja, Associate Dean and Head-Human Resource Development Center, Lovely Professional University shared LPU-HRDC’s vision w.r.t faculty development and assured that participants would be enriched with skills through experiential learning. “The workshop is unique in terms of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment methods which are gamified in approach” she expressed.
The 5-day workshop was conducted in two batches by Dr. Vishal Sarin, Professor and Head – Deptt. Of Economics, Mittal School of Business and Dr. Lokesh Jasrai, Associate Professor and Head – Deptt. Of Marketing Management, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University.
The workshop covered fundamentals of Data Analysis using SPSS, Hypothesis Testing, One-way and Two-way ANOVA, Correlation and Regression Analysis. The participants were appreciative of the resource persons’ expertise, teaching pedagogy and continuously maintained vibrancy and energy level throughout the workshop.
The workshop received participation from Universities and colleges across the nation including Sharda University Noida, Magadh University Gaya, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belgaum, Karnataka, Govind Guru Tribal University, University Of Allahabad, Prayagraj Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, Mdu Rohtak Haryana, Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University Lucknow, University in Kalyani, West Bengal, Sikkim University, Tamil Nadu Veterinary And Animal Sciences University, Amravati University Amravati, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, Adamas University is a private university West Bengal, besides the host Lovely Professional University. Also from the institute like Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER)Chandigarh, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala State Disaster Management Authority etc.
Prof.(Dr.) Dhram Buddhi, Executive Dean, Division of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in his keynote address appreciated the efforts of LPU- HRDC and expressed hope that HRDC will continue to provide such academic enrichment program in future as well.
Dr. Savita Gupta, Professor and Head-Deptt. Of Faculty Development, Human Resource Development Center, coordinated the workshop maintaining great connect with the participants and Resource Team, providing digital credits for active participation, conduct of survey poll and maintaining a very open environment for learning.
In the words of one of the participants Mr. Sritama Mukherjee, “I am working in the field of plant science and earlier I don’t have a good knowledge of statistical analysis. The present workshop helped me a lot. Now, I can train my students to have a statistical analysis for publications.” Another very special participant Dr. Shashikant Jayprakash Chaure who is visually impaired mentioned: ”Computing the data has been a challenge for me but this session has given me enough confidence to move forward big thanks to LPU.”
