LPU Organized ‘International Conference of Pharmacy’

The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Lovely Professional University organized a two-day International Conference of Pharmacy (ICP-2017) at its campus, in collaboration with Society of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (SPER). Themed ‘Pharmacists: Catalysts for Change’ the conference received an enthusiastic response from both the industry and academia. More than 500 delegates from across the world participated in the conference ad 255 of the submitted research papers were selected to get published in Scopus indexed journals. The conference saw more than 220 posters and oral presentations to illustrate the important role of pharmacy in modern life.

On the inaugural day, the Research Abstracts’ Compact Disk was released by LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal, Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, Prof. Dr. Umesh Banakar from USA, Vice-Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Pharmaceutical Industry Dr T.C. Kansal, Secretary SPER Dr. Upendra Nagaich, Prof Dr. K. Gowthama Rajan from JSS College of Pharmacy (Ooty), DG Er HR Singla, and Sr Dean Dr Monica Gulati. Addressing all the delegates and budding pharmacists at the university, Chancellor Mr. Mittal urged them, “Be the true strength of Indian Pharmaceutical industry, act as the catalysts of change.”

National Award Winner, Dr T.C. Kansal advised pharmacists to popularize the pharmacy profession by always remaining sincere towards it and keep on providing the best possible services to the suffering humanity: “Be good, honest, purposeful pharmacists whom the society urgently needs.” Appreciating the unflinching support of LPU in organization of the conference, Dr. Nagaich requested all to have great impact factor in their respective research works.

In the opening session of ICP 2017, Prof. Dr. Banakar from USA, threw light upon the topic ‘Dissolution Testing and Technology: Opportunities and Challenges’. In a relatable and interesting manner, he explained what a true innovation, invention, inherency, or novelty means in the field of research work, and how patents can be applied for.

On the conclusive day of the conference, Senior Vice President of Cadila Pharmaceuticals Dr. B.S. Chakraborty, Assistant Drug Controller Dr. Pardeep Mattu, and other distinguished guests from the field of pharmacy chaired the various sessions.
