Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently celebrated National Science Day-2023 with great enthusiasm. The celebration was held at the Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, where students, faculty members of the School of Chemical Engineering & Physical Sciences, and NSS volunteers participated in the event. The theme of the day was ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Ramkrishna Gupta, the Assistant Vice President & Head (New Product development) at Patanjali Ayurved Limited, who chaired the occasion.
In his address, Dr. Gupta emphasized the importance of science in our daily lives and how it can help us in achieving global well-being. He also highlighted the various research and development initiatives being undertaken by Patanjali Ayurved Limited to contribute towards the betterment of society. Dr Gupta also shared his post PhD experiences in the development of FMCG products and his present focus on products that are 100% vegetarian, chemical-free and made with bio-fermented vitamins.
To commemorate the invention of the ‘Raman Effect’ by the Indian Physicist Sir Chandra Sekhara Venkata Raman in 1928; National Science Day is celebrated all over India with great enthusiasm every year. For his great success in the field of science in India, Sir Raman was awarded and honoured with the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year 1930.
While welcoming the guest at the celebration, LPU Vice Chancellor Dr Preet Bajaj also awakened students on the latest happenings in the sciences domains of India. Dr Bajaj advised students to convert basic knowledge of science into practical utility. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Lovi Raj Gupta eulogized Nobel Laureate Dr CV Raman of the country and shared how he as an individual transformed minute happenings of a ‘photon’ into a world acclaimed phenomenon.
HoD Dr Kailash Juglan shared that the student also participated in a science quiz, skits, debate, painting, poster-making competition, ‘Nukkad Natak’ and allied activities of common awakening towards realities of sciences for day to day such occurrences in common lives. Near 350 students from other schools and colleges of India had also participated in the event.
