National Workshop on Advanced Chromatographic Techniques: Theory and Applications held from September 19 to September 21, 2024, provided an extensive training experience focused on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS). The workshop was organized by the Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) and Division of Research and Development, LPU. The subject matter experts Dr Subheet Kumar Jain, Professor and Director, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab and Mr. Punita Kumar, Product Specialist, Spincotech methodically navigated through the topics ably assisted by Dr Nabaparna Chakraborty, Lab-in -charge, Mr Baljit Bangar, Scientific operator CIF, RDC, LPU and Mr. Asith Kumar, Product Specialist, Toshvin for practical demonstrations.
Dr. Monica Gulati, Executive Dean, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, LPU delivered the inaugural address applauding the resource persons and organizing team for conducting a meaningful workshop that was skill based and essential for experimental research. Dr. Vijay Kumar, HOD, CIF, RDC, LPU set the context explaining the workshop flow and the evaluation pattern.
The Key Takeaways:
- Enhanced understanding of chromatography principles.
- Practical skills in operating High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) instruments.
- Networking opportunities with experts in the field.
This workshop not only equipped participants with essential skills but also fostered a collaborative learning environment that emphasized the importance of chromatography in scientific research and industry applications. The resource persons strategically included a blend of theoretical instruction, practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises, ensuring participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the topics covered and fostering an engaging and interactive learning environment.
