After successfully connecting and amazing the people of Jammu during the first edition of the YAYAVAR Jammu Literary Festival, YAYAVAR reached Jalandhar with their caravan of Literature. Accompanied with the budding poets, authors, actors, screenwriters, and movie directors, the Caravan of YAYAVAR decided to stop by your very own university to create a history with the confluence of great minds at the second edition of YAYAVAR as Jalandhar Literary Festival.

On the auspicious date of February 24, 2020, YAYAVAR Literary Organization in association with Lovely Professional University and Rotary Club of Jalandhar organized YAYAVAR Jalandhar Literary Festival at Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium of Lovely Professional University. The EMCEE for the event was our very own alumna RJ Shwetima Jamwal, who is very famous by her radio name, Jammu di Kudi, and is currently working at Radio Mirchi Jammu.

The event started with an inauguration ceremony where Ms. Shwetima invoked mother of literature, Goddess Saraswati in her euphonious voice, and blessings of Goddess were sought by lamp lightning.

Nupur Sandhu

Nupur Sandhu, Founder & President of YAYAVAR, welcomed the audience, dignitaries, and big names from the world of literature. In her welcome address, Nupur said, “YAYAVAR is HOPE. It is not a man who keeps struggling in a desert. It is a man who just does not survive the sea, but also comes out from it with the pearl.” She also shared two major life lessons with the audience. First, “Keep moving ahead and do not stick to your past achievements”, and the Second, “Be the pinch of salt who decides the taste, and not the rice whose taste is to be decided because every single person is unique in himself, and he should be recognized based on his individuality and unique traits.”

The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Shubhashish Majumdar, Director General Operations Lovely Professional University. Mr.Majumdar is an eminent personality with 16 years of experience in the media world; he is also a part of the International Rotary Juhu. He expressed his happiness to connect with like-minded people and asked the audience to be aspiring, communicating, and vocal-audience for the whole day as they might not get the chance to interact with such dignitaries again.

To kick start the event on the notes of literature, and add poetic flavor to the event, Dhirendra, a young poet, who is in the third year of B.Tech CSE at Lovely Professional University, and had his words heard on DD Punjabi, captivated the audience with his bold yet emotionally intensified poetic pieces. The crowd was emotionally moved by his work, and he received thunderous applause for his piece of work, “Andhere Nafrato ke ab mitane kon aata h”.

The first speaker for the event was Dr. Sorabh Lakhanpal, Dean Student Welfare LPU. The topic Dr. Sorabh addressed was Volunteerism. He introduced the concept of Volunteerism to the 500+ young audience, urged them to be the change and bring the change and thus be the part of the Volunteerism Revolution. He also talked about the various areas where Volunteerism is much needed such as Agriculture Development, Cancer Awareness, Drug Awareness, Save Literature, and many more. He also made everyone in the audience realize their Ideology and live on that.

Afterwards, Mr. Devender, President of Rotary Club Jalandhar interacted with the audience and helped them understand how Rotary is contributing to the well being of all the countries in the world. He also talked about their initiatives in Jalandhar. He was impressed with the audience of Lovely Professional University and urged Dean of Student Welfare LPU to start a Rotract Club on campus.

Ms Jasleen Kaur

The next astounding speaker of the event was Ms. Jasleen Kaur, Creative Director YAYAVAR and Director of Winged Soul. The art of community building through events was her topic. She started her topic with her experience when the poets of Jammu conducted the first event for Poets. She emphasized that Events are a very strong way to connect people. She also recited the poem, “Tum aur tumhare aitvar”

A Panel Discussion was also held where Sunny Dua was the moderator, and Danesh Rana, Inspector General of Police Jammu was the panelist. The topic for Panel Discussion was “Laal Makki” Kashmir Ki Kahani, a book by Mr. Danesh which was first published as Red Maize by Harper Collins, and narrates the story of conflict and grim. Kausar Jan, a widowed mother of three sons is a metaphor of Kashmir in this book, and she gives hope that good day and peace will come to the place.

Anirban Bhattacharyya

The first session of the event came to a very loud, energetic and tremendous end with the speaker Anirban Bhattacharyya, Producer, Writer of Crime Patrol, Savdhan India, and Fear Files. He is an award-winning Stand Up Comedian and best-selling author of penguin’s The Deadly Dozen. The topic for Mr. Anirban was Bread Crumbs and Fulfilling Dreams. He set the audience on the loudest laughter with his sense of humor. He also made the audience familiar with the fact that what we did once in life and forgotten is what Bread Crumb is and can help us to achieve our dreams.
