On 6th November 2019, LPU inaugurated the 10th version of the vibrant mega festOne World‘. It is a world-acclaimed annual event that the university organizes for its students to demonstrate their country, their culture, and represent themselves on a big stage. Promoting oneness and peace, the event celebrates the huge cultural diversity around the globe.

As this year marked the 10th anniversary of the remarkable event, the Honorable Union Minister of HRD, Govt. of India, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank graced the inauguration ceremony. He was greeted by the University with a colourful Bhangra performed by over 3000 students.

This year, the students surpassed their last year’s performance by including aerial dance and the crowd went berserk for it, leaving them agitated for the main event, as this was just the opening ceremony.

The highlight of the ceremony was the point where every country upheld their flag with pride. The flag of LPU was at the heart of all, showing how our prestigious and welcoming university brought everyone together. LPU international students dressed up in their native clothing and danced to their regional music.

Hon’ble Minister of HRD, Government of India, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also graced the ‘LPUNEST Study Grant Award Ceremony‘ as our esteemed Chief Guest at the LPU campus, where he initiated the ‘Study Grant’ distribution of Rs 4.1 Crore to hundreds of meritorious students of the country to pursue education in top institutions like IITs, IIMs, NITs, IHMs, and more.

He expressed his happiness and shared his words of wisdom explaining how he was raised in a lower-middle-class home with no access to electricity and how grateful we should be to be studying in such a university with excellent facilities. He then laid importance on the health and physique of the youth.

Afterwards, he proceeded to mark the importance of science in today’s world as he laid down facts about the country’s growing economy and how science has been a crucial part of it by quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new Slogan given at the 106th Science Congress “Jai Jawaan, Jai Kisaan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan“.

Fun Fact:- The grand 106th Indian Science Congress was held in our Lovely Professional University back in January 2019!

A total of over 300 students from universities such as NIT, IIM, NLU’S, and some others were given study grants worth rupees one to three lacs in their respective fields. The aim was to not let money be an issue when it comes to education and development. LPU looks forward to being a part of the emerging economy and encouraging others to do the same.

One world

The study grant was indeed a magnificent event, whereas the inaugural ceremony of One World left people in awe; the 2-day event is scheduled for 15th & 16th November 2019. Looking forward to seeing you there!
