Background & Rationale
An envisioning exercise for preparing the blueprint of Capacity Building and Training Programmes for Foreign Officials in India was organized by Lovely Professional University for WAPCOS Limited, a Govt. of India Undertaking under the aegis of Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation based at Gurgaon. The scope of the project entailed organizing capacity building and training programs for Senior, Middle and Junior Officials from Rwanda.
The agenda focused on:
- Reviewing and recapping the quarterly online interaction since January 2018 between the LPU facilitators and the delegate nominees from Rawanda.
- Preparation of Blueprint for the capacity building program in three tiers : Senior, Middle and Junior Officials
- Discussion over Detailed Training Schedules for Senior Officials
- Discussion over Detailed Training Schedules for Middle Officials
- Discussion over Detailed Training Schedules for Junior Officials
Dr. Ramesh Kumar Sadawarti, Dean School of Agriculture, Mr Aman Mittal, Additional Director, Division of International Affairs, Prof. Bhupinder Verma, Additional Dean, School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Dr. Gurpreet Singh Phull, Associate Prof. & Dy.Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Nitesh Mahajan, Assistant Director, Division of International Affairs were the key facilitators for the program. They were assisted by Dr. Raj Kumar, Professor, School of Agriculture and Ms. Sawinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture.
They presented the proposed Detailed Training Schedules to the delegation from Rawanda and sought their viewpoints w.r.t training plans meeting the stated requirements.
A detailed discussion on each aspect of training was deliberated and learning outcomes were defined. An engaging brainstorming session was conducted to frame the program pedagogy especially tuned to adult learners. The group arrived at a multi-pronged approach including case studies, group discussions, field visits, and presentations by the participants illustrating the learning outcome attainment.
The participants were also taken on a field visit for on the filed experiential learning. The best practices shared and blue print of capacity building for Junior and middle level officials deliberated. The Bee Hiving practice was demonstrated at length. Orientation in the Food and Nutrition Lab was also provided.
A consolidated Training and Capacity Framework for Junior and Middle level was finalized and a copy of these provided to each participant at the end of the interaction.
