Everyone has a dream college and everyone works hard to step into it. To be a fresher and the realization of the commencement of a new life is an amazing feeling, but can be a lot confusing, making you a little nervous. As the target audience of this article are freshers, consider me as your senior who whole-heartedly welcomes you to the University and I’m pretty sure, you are going to love it! Before you step into the campus, just keep a few things in mind to avoid any dilemma or perplexity from your first day onwards.
To make you aware or rather warn you, LPU has its own rules and regulations within the campus (which of course every University has!) which are ‘not-so-strict’ but are needed to be seriously followed to avoid UMC (Unfair means cases). Due to the huge dimensions of our University, you can lose your tracks initially, but don’t worry, every block is properly marked with its designated number and in case of any help; the guards are always there.
You must already be familiar with the way LPU conducts its online classes; attending classes at the university in the offline mode is much different (and joyous too!) and needs more attention and concentration.
CA- Continuous Assessment
I’m not introducing this term to you as you must have given a lot of CAs in your first semester in the form of online assignments (they are quite a pain, I know!). But these are not always assignments in the offline mode; they are taken as tests by your concerned teacher and if the Almighty blesses you, you might end up having 3-4 CAs (or even more!) in a single day! So, never take CAs lightly and work hard for maintaining a perfect score as they might end up affecting your GPA!
Attendance
The 75% concept is known to everyone and as you know it plays a role in counting the average of your total marks as well, maintaining regular attendance is essential for having a better academic approach. But here, you don’t get the privilege of attending 60% of the class and getting marked ‘present’; you need to enter your class within 5 minutes of its onset before attendance is taken. Otherwise, you might end up attending the rest of your class without getting any attendance for it!
ID-card
When you are inside the campus, your identity is your ‘identity-card’ as it is needed almost EVERYWHERE and if you are a hosteller, there is no entry without your ID-card. So practically, you need to carry it along with you everywhere and don’t dare lose it or misplace it or break it and if this happens, you can request another card in Block no. 30.
Attending the class
Interaction is quite essential and you must interact not only with friends but also with your teachers. Ask them doubts and you can even visit them in the faculty room if you have any. Also, make proper notes and maintain a notebook for every subject as they prove to be extremely beneficial during exams. Try to read the prescribed books along with the PPTs you get, they will surely enhance your knowledge providing a deeper insight into the subject.
