LPU alumni continue to live by its values of compassion and selfless service. The LPU Alumni Association Hyderabad Chapter is undertaking its first ever community service activity under the campaign of ‘Transforming India’.
Mr. Amar Singh Rathore, President Hyderabad Chapter, along with a 10 member team, is taking charge of this campaign of raising an amount of Rs. 50,000 for the DESIRE Society, a non profit voluntary organization that works for the health development and well being of children infected and affected with HIV/AIDS. The amount raised by Mr. Rathore and team will go towards the education and living expenses of children under the age of 15, benefiting from the organisation’s services.
Registered in 2005 in Hyderabad, the DESIRE Society supports around 800 children infected and affected with HIV/AIDS, through Institutional Care Homes and Community Outreach services. It has a presence in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Gurgaon.
LPU has decided to support the endeavor by contributing Rs. 25,000 of the total 50,000 to be collected. The university will also send stationery items for the children being supported, and T-shirts for the volunteers.
Today, when an estimated 1,50,000 children in our country are suffering from HIV/AIDS, every contribution towards helping these innocents fight the disease and live decent lives, is extremely valuable.
