“Pin point the pain point” – Mr. Arun Rawat
Mr. Arun Rawat, Chairman CII (Himachal Pradesh State Council) visited LPU campus and interacted with MBA students on August 27,2016. He focused on entrepreneurship, and urged the Vertos to become `Job Givers’ rather than job seekers. He expounded that as the nation housing the highest Youth Capital, the rising demand for jobs could only be met by creating more employers.
He shared his life’s journey and all the obstacles that he had to overcome in order to achieve all that he had. He said that his parents had been his constant source of motivation during his 24 year career. They struggled to provide good education to five children but never compromised.
Mr. Rawat did his engineering in Metallurgy and worked a job for 2 years but found himself unable to blend in and hence decided to become an entrepreneur. Him being the first generation of entrepreneurs in his family, he faced disapproval from all his near and dear ones but the burning desire of establishing himself and giving back to society kept him moving forward regardless of failure. He also talked on social entrepreneurship and its importance in today’s time, discussing the various myths related. He spoke of the concept of “Pin point the Pain point” that concludes that an idea which focuses on reducing the pain of masses will always find its way to become a good venture. Students shared various pain points which they face on day-to-day basis and also came up with solutions which can turn into good start-ups.
Many questions were asked by the students, which Mr. Rawat patiently answered. He concluded the lecture by sharing his idea of happiness – a combination of health, family, work, and giving back to the society. He inspired the students to maintain a balance of these four things rather than just focusing on work alone.
