It’s been 4 years in the making. An event that can unite nations, bringing together individuals of different ethnicities and races, just for one united cause, unrivalled and unparalleled glory. The FIFA WORLD CUP is right around the corner, and this might be the best time for you to brush up on knowledge about the participating nations. And there’s no better nation to start off with than Germany. The reigning champions and the favourites this time around as well, Germany is a force to be reckoned with.
Germany’s midfield is nothing short of a wonder. They have got so much depth, that choosing the starting 11 must not have been easy for Joachim Low. Their midfield is comprised of players such as Toni Kroos, who is often called as the German sniper for his precise passes, Mesut Ozil, a player for whom assisting is like breathing, the guy can’t live without it, Leroy Sane, a young player with a ton load of potential, and Sami Khedira, a midfield maestro and an interception specialist. They’ve also got players like Ilkay Gundogan and Leon Goretzka, who are very formidable in their respective positions.
Germany’s attack is made up of some of the greatest players that we have seen in recent times. For wingers, they’ve got players like Marco Reus, who’s been having the time of his life, and Julian Draxler, another youngster who’s made a name for himself in recent times. Thomas Muller is another interesting prospect. He’s already scored 10 goals in two World Cups and might be looking to break the record for most goals scored by an individual in world cup history. It’s no secret that Germany has had striker issues in the past, but things might be different in this world cup. With players such as Timo Werner and Nils Petersen, Germany might have finally found a solution to their striker woes.
Germany’s defence is rock solid and hardcore. They’ve got Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng as their centre backs. As their wing backs, they’ve got Joshua Kimmich and Jonas Hector, who more than capable of holding their own on the international level. It’s common knowledge that Germany has produced some of the greatest goalkeepers that this world has seen, and the tradition continues to this day. Germany has got Marc Andre ter Stegen, Bernd Leno and Kevin Trapp as their goalkeepers. But their primary choice for wearing the number 1 jersey will be none other Manuel Neuer, arguably the best goalkeeper in the world right now. He’s been side-lined for pretty much this entire season due to a leg injury, but he’s back and is in better shape than ever.
With such a star-studded team, it’s no surprise that many believe Germany to be favourites to retain their championship. Whether or not they reign supreme is something that’s still to be seen, but one thing’s for sure, no team, in their right mind, would want to go up against these monsters.
