LPU’s student organization Dragcon, under the aegis of DSW, launched a new episode of live interaction with Anamika Mishra, an amazing author, travel blogger, magnificent storyteller, and gracious influencer. Our vertos were thrilled to attend this lovely live session conducted on 10th August 2021.
Anamika Mishra is also a motivational speaker and she told about her pandemic experience. During this pandemic, despite the negative impact, she worked and focused more on books and blogs. She also shared that she has always been a hoarder so during this time, she was able to de-clutter all the things and she developed the habit of mindful shopping.
During the initial days of her journey to a successful author, she did not have much knowledge about the field but soon she got a chance of publishing her first book within one month of completion of post-graduation. She expressed that she has had a smooth journey till now. She was blogging for over 5-6 years when her book was released and with her parent’s support, she was able to climb the ladder of success. She highlighted that writing is for everyone and it is all about the content and story that you produce. At first, she wasn’t sure about continuing book writing but her first book’s success, appreciation, and it became a best-seller, motivated her to write her second book. Her best-selling novel is “For the sake of love” which gathered so much love from the readers. She got the inspiration for this book when she was in Mall road, Shimla, and went to an old library and talked with the owner. This is when she realized that she wants to write something focussing on ‘old-school love’.
She emphasized the fact that her first book, “Too hard to handle” will always be special for her. When she started writing, she was naive but as years passed, she is full of thoughts, experiences and it helps her to remember that she has become wiser and came a long way from it. She got to experience the feeling of being on “Top 10” by Amazon. She believes that there is still a lot to learn and to grow.
When asked about her reaction to criticism, she added “You cannot please everyone” and she devotes her time to read reviews, from readers, critics, publishers, and investors. You have to decide which criticism you need to implement in your writing. She even mentioned her fear of failing. Her fear of failing helps her to stay more careful, take wiser steps, and be prepared for whatever the future holds.
Advice to the vertos:
When you are trying something, be prepared. Never go with the attitude that we’ll see what happens, always do your research before entering any field. You have to decide when is your now, what is a perfect time for you to do something. Once you enter the field, give your 100% as you can’t turn back time. Even if it doesn’t work, you will have the satisfaction of trying with no regrets. The courage of trying something comes from within.
