Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), India’s largest car manufacturing firm. Takeuchi graced the occasion as the esteemed chief guest of the 2nd Phase of the 14th annual “LPU Achievers Awards” ceremony, held at LPU’s Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium. The event recognized and honoured 890 outstanding student achievers from various domains, who were presented with cash awards, totalling to Rs One Crore & Forty-Eight lakhs, and University Rolls of Honors.
During his address to the student achievers, their parents, and the university staff, MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi emphasized the importance of perseverance and urged everyone to never give up until they achieve their goals. Drawing inspiration from Maruti Suzuki’s success as the number one car manufacturer in India and one of the top three globally, Takeuchi encouraged a customer-centric approach in their respective fields and emphasized the value of hard work. He reminded the audience to consider others’ perspectives and quoted the proverbial saying, “put yourself in others’ shoes.” Takeuchi also acknowledged the global victory of LPU’s ace Javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, and India’s success in the Moon Mission, highlighting the significance of a collaborative work.
The Founder Chancellor of LPU and Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, welcomed Hisashi Takeuchi and shared his own enriching experiences with Maruti Suzuki. Dr. Mittal congratulated the prize-winning students and their parents, commending their exceptional success, both individually and as a team. He also inspired the students to maintain their commitment to excellence.
The esteemed presence of Lovely Group Chairman, Ramesh Mittal; LPU Pro Chancellor, Rashmi Mittal; Vice-Chairman, Naresh Mittal; and Pro-Vice Chancellors further added grace to the ceremony.
This celebratory event, organized by LPU’s Division of Youth Affairs under the aegis of the Student Welfare Wing, marked Phase 2 of the 14th Annual Honour Ceremony, LPU Achievers Awards. It was aimed to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievements of students for the academic years 2021-22 and 2022-23. A total of 450 illustrious sports persons, 180 academic toppers, 100 cultural performers, 50 innovators and entrepreneurs, 80 community service contributors, 15 NCC volunteers, and 15 NSS volunteers were honoured during the event.
The awards ceremony serves as a testament to LPU’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence among its students. Through such recognition and encouragement, LPU continues to inspire young minds to strive for greatness and make a positive impact in the society.
