Looking for a job and afraid of screwing up the interview? Well everyone has been there, frightened, nervous and some of them screwing up their interview because of their fear only. Here are some simple but pro tips to nail your interview:
- Do your research
The basic step to have a great interview is to research about the company you are going to interview for. This will help you to know about the company, its employees, the current affairs and the kind of projects the company allot to its employees. This will give them a good impression and they’ll know that you are genuinely interested in the company.
- Proper grooming
One of the most important keys to having a great interview is proper dressing. Go to the interview in formal clothes, well to be precise, a black coat with black trousers and a black tie with a white shirt are a kind of uniform for an interview. In addition to the clothing, comb your hairs properly and for girls, they can tie them in a ponytail. Do not pull your sleeves up. This shows your informal behaviour and not a good friend in an interview.
- Greet your interviewers
Don’t just enter the room and sit on your hot seat. Greet your interviewers with good morning/afternoon/evening according to the time before you sit. Similarly, don’t just stand up and go out when your interview is over. Stand up, shake hands with them and say thank you. This shows how mannered and well behaved you are.
- Avoid using informal language.
Using informal language isn’t something interviewers look for. Using informal language is the perfect way of getting rejected in an interview. So if you want to nail the interview be formal and polite and more importantly be yourself, as big companies have a psychologist as one of their interviewers who can tell when you are lying. So be you.
5. Body language
Your body posture is also a matter of concern. Sit with your back straight and both feet touching the floor and not one over the other. Make eye contact with the interviewers. Don’t sit bending forward or take the entire support of the chair, just sit with a perfectly straight back. It represents your good health and your attentiveness.
These are just the basic but very important points that you should keep in mind if you really want to nail the interview.
