Sports has always been a strong zone of LPU with the students outperforming in the various zonal, district, national and international platforms. Whenever we mention the sports department of LPU, the first thing that strikes our mind is the incredible performance of the students of LPU in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 that took place in July-August 2021 witnessing the winning of gold and bronze medals by the LPU students in the fields of Javelin throw, Men’s hockey, and Wrestling respectively. Moreover, out of 11 players in the hockey team, 7 players belonged to LPU bringing 7 medals altogether! And who can refrain from mentioning Neeraj Chopra who brought the only gold medal achieved by India after 2008 and the first in athletics after what seemed like a million years!
We have also seen students of LPU participating in the Pro-Kabaddi League and winning many other competitions held at different places across the nation as well as worldwide. This time, the students of LPU are back with a bang after participating in the All India Inter-University Championship in the game of baseball and grabbing the silver medal in the same. This Championship was held at Tuljaram Chaturchand (T.C.) College at Baramati, Maharashtra in association with the Association of Indian Universities and Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. It was held from 14th March 2022 to 18th March 2022 where Lovely Professional University participated in the Pool B in the tournament and managed to go around the 51 other universities giving them a tough competition and winning the silver medal after grabbing the second position. All the students who engaged in this All India Inter-University Championship are heavily congratulated on behalf of all members and staff of LPU for their sheer dominance and incredible achievement and for making our university proud among all the ones who took part.
We have always seen LPU trying hard for making students participate in different tournaments giving them opportunities to follow their passion and succeed in the field they are interested in whether it’s sports, academics, or culture, LPU always has our backs. LPU has one of the biggest auditoriums and sports complexes with minimal fees for the active participation of students and churning out their raw talents providing the students with what they deserve. The least we can do is to utilize the opportunities provided to us by our university to the fullest and grab every single piece of treasure we receive with open arms.
