Maruti Suzuki and Lovely Professional University hosted national green mobility competitive event ‘Efficycle-2019’, where LPU Students’ team became national winner, in conventional category. LPU students grabbed the trophy and cash awards worth Rupees One Lakh & Fifteen thousand (Rs 1,15,000) for their efficient cycle ‘Illuminati Racers’. Out of 80 registered teams, from across India and SAARC countries; team ‘team ‘Velociracers’ of ‘College of Engineering, Pune and ‘Effiroaders’ of CDGI, Indore declared 1st & 2nd Runner-Up respectively. Pranoti Mali of College of Engineering, Pune (Maharashtra), won the best woman participant award.
In all cash prizes worth Rs 7.5 Lakh, trophies and certificates were distributed to winners in different categories of the competitions. Of these, winning teams or individuals were awarded cash prizes from Rs 10,000 to Rs 70,000 each for the Best Design, Innovation, Marketing Presentation, Acceleration, Light Vehicle, Built-up Quality, the Best participant and more. 500+ LPU student volunteers, 75+ judges and mentors from the top automotive industry coordinated for smooth conduction of the 5-day mammoth event. Indeed, the green revolution competition demonstrated a lot of excitement, challenges and practical learning.
First time organized a parallel Advance Category (Next Generation) event at the Efficycle competition-2019; College of Engineering, Pune, was declared Overall Winner and got Rs 70,000 Cash Prize along with a trophy. Sree Nidhi Institute of Science & Technology, Hyderabad, declared second and got a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Trophy. While flagging off the final round of Effi-cycles’ race, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal appreciated the best of engineering endeavour at the event and desired that students should gain more practical knowledge through such largely extended events. She also appreciated the commitment and enthusiasm of each and every participating student for exhibiting great team spirit in making the event highly competitive and result-oriented.
Generating consciousness towards environment-friendly mobility solution to global society, pioneering bodies from Industry and Education including MSIL, LPU had joined hands. It was also supported by ICAT and Society for Automotive Engineering-Northern India Section (SAENIS). Former Sr MEO (MSIL) & Sr Visiting Fellow to TERI Mr I V Rao; Convener EFfi-Cycle 2019 Mr Deepak Panda; Former Convener Mr UD Bhangle, Ex-Director SAENIS Anoop Kakkar, Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal; Joint Convener SK Kalia, LFTS Executive Dean Dr Lovi Raj Gupta, and HoD Gurpreet Phull graced the occasion.
Illustrative, word ‘Effi-Cycle’ has been derived from ‘Efficient-Cycle’ which provides engineering students with an opportunity to conceive, design and fabricate a three-wheel configured vehicle powered by human-electric hybrid power. It is capable of seating two passengers catering to the day to day mobility needs. The aerodynamically designed vehicles are engineered for the best green performance & safety.
