In a glorious effort to mark Punjab Day, 4411 students of Lovely Professional University, Punjab came together to set the record of the World’s Largest Bhangra Performance. The mammoth crowd of Bhangra enthusiasts beat the previous world record which was set for 2100 performers.
Swapnil Dangarikl from the Guinness Book of World Record team was the judge of the event. The participants comprised of both international as well as national students and danced to the dhol beats of renowned UK based artist, Gurcharan Mall. Around 11 traditional instruments were used in the grand event. Chief coordinator of the event and head of World Bhangra Association (England) Tarlochan Singh Bilgha said the event was organized to promote Punjabi culture. The colorful array of culture, tradition and enthusiasm was displayed at the Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis auditorium of Lovely Professional University.
Around 100 student volunteers as well as heads and faculties of different departments of the LPU actively coordinated to ensure the success of the event. The event served as a testament of the rich Punjabi culture as well the ethnically diverse crowd of LPU.
