The cricketing prowess of Lovely Professional University (LPU) reached new heights as two exceptional student-cricketers, Vikrant Rana and Deepin Chitkara, showcased their exuberant skills at the prestigious BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) endorsed Vizzy Trophy Championship-2024, held in Guwahati, Assam. Deepin’s splendid unbeaten score of 110 runs showcased his unparalleled batting skill and unwavering determination, while Vikrant’s bowling bombardment, taking 4 wickets for a mere 41 runs, earned them resounding applause from the stadium.
The outstanding performance of LPU’s student-cricketers has positioned them as potential candidates for selection in the national team, where they could have the opportunity to play alongside India’s world-class cricketers such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Congratulating the triumphant students, Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Pro Chancellor of LPU, expressed her wishes for their inclusion in the national team, which would bring further fame not only to the students themselves but also to their university, their parents, and the country as a whole. Mrs. Mittal also extended her appreciation to LPU’s Sports department, particularly the cricket coaches, for their efforts in nurturing and guiding the talented cricketers.

The Vizzy Trophy, a national-level tournament organized by the AIU in collaboration with the BCCI, witnessed the participation of talented university students from all zones of the country representing their respective teams. This annual inter-zonal university limited-overs cricket tournament, named after the former Indian cricketer and BCCI president, Maharaj Kumar of Vizianagram, holds a prestigious position as one of the renowned ‘List A’ tournaments in India. LPU’s students proudly represented the North Zone in this fifty-eight-year-old championship.
