PARIVAAR – a National Confederation of Parents’ Organizations has become an icon of strength to be reckoned with in protecting the rights of the Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDDs) i.e Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. It began with just a few parents and now it has more than 230 parents’ organisations and NGO’s across the country. Today they conducted the National Conference of Parents Organisations for Welfare of PwIDDs at LPU. It was the 24th National Parents meet hosted by Punjab.
Over 250 delegates from all over India attended the meeting. The delegates present included Col VK Gautam (President Parivaar), Philip Simon (General Secretary Parivaar), Ajeen Sen (Commander Bijur), and Sardaar Amarjeet (Vice President North Zone). The parent meet successfully discussed the various missions they would be under taking this year such as creating widespread awareness among people to include and befriend people with PwIDDs and to improve and secure their rights, sensitizing people to the life and struggles of PwIDDs and educate them on the correct ways to help them.
