“Knowledge, Art and Character make a person succeed…”

The Literary Society, under the aegis of Division of Student Affairs, held its induction  ceremony on 6th of September. After undergoing a selection process involving an online questionnaire and a personal interview, the selected students now form the core Literary Society of Lovely Professional University. The society has numerous clubs under its wing, including the Public Speaking, Book Club, Poetry Club, and Quiz Club.

The induction was conducted by the Faculty Coordinator, Miss Priya Kanda. She welcomed the literary aficionados to the society and invited them to share their stories and passions. She said that the society would become a platform for like minded students to express themselves and learn and grow together, honing their skills and sharing their passions. The activities of the different clubs were then elaborated upon.

The Book Club would include book sharing, reviews, open discussions as well as character imitation. The most interesting aspect of the last was that students were told that they could even dress up as the character they wanted to personify. The Poetry Club would include poetry writing, recitation, performance, and peer review. It would also initiate the Spoken Word Poetry format for the students, a format that would focus more on raw expression and performance than rhyming schemes and meters. The Quiz Club would groom the students on not just General Knowledge but also various current affairs across the globe, while giving them the space to form opinions and discuss them. Perhaps the most sought after club, The Public Speaking Club would conduct workshops and training sessions in the art of public speaking. It would also host and send students for various competitions. A remarkable feature introduced by the society is the personalized feedback and improvement graphs that each student would receive throughout their literary journey.

Urging students to cultivate their individuality during University life, Miss Kanda encouraged them to form original ideas, thoughts and opinions and share them without hesitation. The Literary Society rests on the pillars of Knowledge, Art, and Character and Miss Kanda expressed her hope that all members would reflect and personify the same.
