The School of Fashion Design of Lovely Professional University organized mega fashion show ‘Ensemble 2018’ during its annual graduating show on 9th May 2018. Near 45 models, who were also LPU students showcased 13 collections of 200+ designs prepared by LPU Fashion Design students. These collections were named as Ukarimu, Orb of Night, Topsy Turvy Land, The Saviour, Reformist, Neverland, Limitless, Rise of the fallen, Fluidity, Techno Fiction as a new Romance and Phulkari. These designs were created by 100+ final semester student-designers of M.Design, B.Design & M.Sc Fashion Design programmes. In addition, 2 debut collections were also showcased. LPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Ramesh Kanwar congratulated the creative graduating students and their mentors at LPU for an international level successful outcome of the show. VC Dr Kanwar and Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal awarded the student-designers team of collection ‘Ukarimu’ for best conceptual collection; ‘Fluidity’ team for best pattern and construction; the team of ‘Orb of Night’ and ‘Techno Fiction’ were awarded for the best fabric development; team ‘Topsy Turvy’ awarded for the best commercial collection; and, team ‘Rise of The Fallen’ was awarded for the best design collection. To grace the event, special performances were given by Uzbeki artists ‘Salaam Namaste’ as they danced on Bollywood songs.
Recipients of Karamveer Puraskar, Paramveer Award, Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award, two Rajiv Gandhi Excellence awards and many more were present to grace the occasion. Dr Sanjana Jon who has been credited with many prestigious awards and is also the designer for Salman Khan judged the show.
Feeling delighted on seeing the creative designs by LPU students, she said, “I have attended many shows but here I got amazed to see the creativity and dedication among the students. The designs were incredulous and wearable which are easily acceptable by the society”. While addressing the students she has given vivacious tips related to contemporary designing.
School of Fashion Design at LPU is an institutional member of Fashion Design Council of India and has faculty with great expertise in the fashion industry to sharpen design visualization and its execution by students. It has modern labs and equipment to simulate the industry environment with practical exposure to fashion industry right from design to merchandising. On this occasion, big names in the fashion industry, Anuj Lalwani an ace designer and a well-established name in the fashion industry, Sonia Jetley famous designer for modern woman, “Anshul Rajwansh” a design label epitomizing the kaleidoscope of colours and the finesse of the royal Rajasthan clubbed with the contemporary understated elegance along with Vineet Malhotra, Firoz Khan, Anoop Rana, and Vivek Karnatak were also present.
