Lovely Professional University has won the 31st Overall Championship Trophy of the Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) North Zone Uni-Fest. This is the biggest event of the zone for securing participation in the national inter-university competition. Last year LPU had to be satisfied with being first runner-up; however, with hard work and determination LPU took the overall trophy this time from reigning champions Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. The mega event was sponsored by Ministry of Youth Welfare & Sports, Government of India, and held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, where the LPU contingent of 40 students revealed extraordinary talent in 25 competitions and won 19 medals under different event categories.
LPU students won overall trophies in three categories of Music, Theatre, and Literary events, and 8 gold medals in the competitions held for Mimicry, Mime, Elocution, Classical Vocal, Light Vocal, Western Solo, Western Group and Folk Orchestra. They also bagged three silver medals in Classical Non-percussion, Classical Dance and Collage Making; LPU students also got 8 bronze medals for their participation in Quiz, Classical percussion, Indian Group Song, Debate, One Act Play, Skit, Clay modeling and Poster making.
