LPU School of Journalism and Film Production organized a national conference on ‘Contemporary Perspectives in Design and Creative Arts'(CPDCA 2018) to have a holistic understanding of issues relating to space, forms, frugality, sustainability and functionality in design and creative arts. More than 125 artists, designers, photographers, journalists, and, researchers convened for the conference at LPU Campus. The conference provided a platform for scholars and professionals to share and discuss the innovations and development in the field of design and creative arts.

The one-day conference comprised of 5 sessions that focused on diversifying the perspectives towards modern art and understanding the importance of creativity. The participants presented more than 180 papers at the conference. Short film entries of more than 60 films were received from Iran, USA, UK, Ireland, Bangladesh and, Sri Lanka.

Renowned conceptual artist and photographer Diwan Manna addressed the audience on “Need to develop Sensitivity towards realism of Art”. He elaborated on how energy, consistency and hard work are the key ingredients to success. He holds: “To know the real meaning of art, one must look for intensity, passion, creativity and sensitivity in every art form.”

Among the worthy visitors was also Deepak Aggarwal, Executive Creative Director, PointNine Lintas. He shared his opinion on modern concepts and designs, “One must seek innovation, line up creativity and think out of the box to understand designing.” Mr Dinesh, Former Associate Editor of the esteemed newspaper, The Tribune advised the budding journalists to focus on the factual reality of a news rather the sensational factor of the news.

LPU students shared how the conference benefitted them by expanding their knowledge about design and creative arts and how words of renowned artists and designers widened their perspective on different forms of art.

The participating institutions and universities at the conference included Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar), Aligarh Muslim University (Aligarh), Punjab Unversity (Chandigarh), Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (Hisar) and, Kurukshetra University (Kurukshetra).
