One of the happiest as well as saddest things about going to university is the hostels. You might have acquired a completely new sense of freedom but hostels are a far cry from what you’re used to. Moving away reduces a lot of the comforts of living at home, such as home cooked delicious meals, private bathroom, etc.
Fortunately, you can absolutely personalize your room to make you feel like home!
Suit up Your Bed
Your bed is one of the biggest objects in your new room. Begin by making it pretty! Beds in hostels are always singles. Get a good quality bed-sheet, pillows, throw and make yourself comfortable.
Get Organized
Since hostel rooms are small, they certainly get messy. Keep your things neatly in drawers. Buy closet-insert hanging shoe pockets. Get containers to match any décor.
Cover the Walls
Cover the plain white walls of your room in fun colours. Unfortunately, you can’t paint the walls but you can cover them with art, magazine clippings, photographs, etc. You can change the looks of the wall whenever you want!
Cover the Floors
Add some colour by covering the floors with patterned, colourful rugs. Rugs are available in different sizes, shapes, colours, patterns, and they break the monotony of boring decor.
Increase Your Lighting
Usually, hostel rooms have inadequate or just basic lighting. Lights dictate the atmosphere of your room, and flat yellow or white lighting won’t enhance it. Experiment with different lamp shades. Buy a desk and a floor lamp. Buy a simple lampshade and maybe you can draw something on it.
By mixing and matching different accoutrements, you can make your dream room. It’s time you get creative and make your room look fabulous!
