Whenever a commentator talks of an Indian opener smashing 6s and 4s in the very first over of any given format, the name that immediately comes to mind is VIRENDRA SEHWAG. The larger than life cricketer who hit a 6 when batting at 295* v/s Pakistan, Sehwag is remembered for his fierce and aggressive attitude towards fast balls on the field. In the 2011 World Cup matches Sehwag  scored a boundary on the very first ball of all the Indian batting innings against every bowler and bowling attack.

The “Sultan of Multan”, as Sehwag was known for his glorious 319 runs in a test match at Multan, made a total of 37 centuries in international  formats during his career before he announced his retirement. That he chose to do so at the age to match that figure just speaks his style and sense of humor. Sehwag may have bid adieu to cricket on his 37th birthday, on 20th October 2015, but his game, his attitude and his smile live on in his fans’ hearts. Here’s wishing Sehwag a happy 38th birthday.
