Well-known comedian and winner of India’s Best Stand-up Comedian Competition, Zakir Khan visited the LPU Campus on 8th November. The much-awaited performance left the LPU auditorium filled with gales of laughter. Using humor expertly and with the sharpening of the comedic senses, Zakir also pointed out what is wrong existing in the society. He used popular genres of comedy including satire, lampooning, caricaturing, storytelling and observational comedy.
The event was organized by Student Organization United Nations Youth Community under the aegis of Division of Student Welfare. The event was relished by the audience who couldn’t stop laughing even after the event ended.
Zakir Khan is an India stand-up comedian and presenter who rose to popularity in 2012 by winning Comedy Central’s “India’s Best Stand Up Comedian” Competition. Besides presenting comedy shows, he is also a ghost writer and an actor. He is recognized among his fans through his tag-name – “Sakht Launda”.
Zakir has gained popularity on social media and completed his one million subscribers on Youtube with “Haq Se Single”. Interacting with students, he shared that he is always a true inspiration to singles and heart- broken persons. Proud to be a single, he also presented incredible performance about relationship statuses of youth. Zakir advised students to preserve good memories and recall them when things are not going right. Memories of good times give you warmth and keep you going no matter what.
Presently, he is working up the funny ladder and works his audience with ease and style of his own which seems miles apart from others. He shared: “As people laugh, I get more confident. Concentrating my all energy into writing more material, I learned what worked and didn’t with different audiences. I kept making changes, adapting and eventually found my own, unique style. My comedic style has grown with penetrating characters, comedy and slang that works across audiences.”
