Five-Day All India Inter-University ‘Drop Roball’ Championship (2018-19) is going on at Lovely Professional University (LPU), where LPU teams are excelling others by revealing better sports skills. Till today, LPU teams have performed excellently by winning bronze medals in matches played for categories of Single Boys; Single Girls; Mix Double; and Double League. Out of the 100 + matches to be played during the championship, LPU players have outdone maximum of the rival-teams in the matches played against them. Other teams which have clinched top medals include Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak; Kumaun University Nainital; and, MDU Rohtak. Tomorrow i.e on 10th March 2019 remaining league and ‘Triple’ matches will be played. Prior to this, LPU Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Ramesh kanwar inaugurated the championship.

The founder of modern ‘Drop Roball’ game, Mr Ishwar Singh (Founder General Secretary of Drop Roball Federation India) informed: “With its rich history and growing international popularity, Drop Roball is one of the most progressive and popular game, and is the best for both entertainment and health. When it is played for competition, it develops mental power, tolerance and physical qualities. The game is easy to play with minimal cost, and can be played in villages or towns by the poor as well as the rich.”
AIU Observer Dr Nagendra Sharma (Sports Officer at Kumaun University Nainital) appreciated the world-class arrangements made by LPU Management at the campus for the championship. Being a new game for the younger generation, Dr Nagendra informs all about its playing under set rules and regulations. Referees I S Panghal and Jasbir Singh shared: “The court of Drop Roball surface is made hard, which is divided by the net into two parts. When a player starts the game, he/she drops the ball on the ground, ball jumps, and he/she hits the ball with palm in opposite side of the court.”
