One week long Workshop On Data Visualization with Tableau was organized by Human Resource Development Center and Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University. The workshop got an overwhelming response of 90+ participants from host institution, other Higher Education Institutions, corporate sector and NGOs including national and international delegates.
The one week workshop conducted on weekends began with the welcome note by the Convener, Prof. (Dr.) Sunaina Ahuja, Associate Dean & Head-Human Resource Development Center, Lovely Professional University. She brought out the significance of data visualization as an indispensable skill for data based decisions by citing a case study pertinent to the subject. Taking the baton further, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Verma, Dean, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University highlighted the role of data visualization in contemporary corporate world as well as the field of academic research. He lauded the role of HRDC in excellent organization and conduct of purposeful workshops. Introducing the resource panel and the designated mentors, the program coordinator Mr. Sarabjit Singh Kwatra, Deputy Dean, HRDC spelled out the modalities and general flow of the program. He introduced the participants to experiential learning and gamified approach planned for transfer of learning.
The resource panel comprising of Dr. Harpreet Singh Bedi, Professor & Head Training & Placement and Mr. Vishal Goyal, Assistant Professor, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University, conducted the sessions with an hands-on approach with practice exercises on real time data sets, thus enabling each one of the 90 participants to create their own dashboards as a key learning outcome of the workshop.
Each day began with a motivating input by Team HRDC before handing the proceedings to the resource panel. The session was primarily divided into a concept input, demonstration and hands in grease activity by the participants. Questions were taken up in towards the end of the session. The day’s data sets, presentation and session recording were shared with the participants on a regular basis.
An assignment on practical data set was rolled out on day 2 for participants to assimilate learning and also have a feel of the real application of the inputs. The final day saw the show casing of the assignments done by the participants, the feedback and the sharing of workshop experiences.

Mr. Mohit Das, Senior Business Analyst, GlobalLogic, Gurugram appreciated the conduct and the approach which in his words ‘helped a seasoned corporate professional to upskill’.
