Tech Giant Google and Lovely Professional University have signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding new courses that offer specialization in Android programming. For this, LPU is going to establish a Google ‘Center of Excellence’ at its Campus, with ultra modern facilities and Google Chrome-books. The center will be one among only a handful in the world. Under this collaboration, LPU students will be trained through Google expertise and get Android certifications as a part of their syllabus, at no additional cost.

A few months back, on a visit to India, Google’s CEO Mr. Sundar Pichai had said: “As per the new plan of Google, we will train two million Android developers in partnership with 30 universities. This will be done over the next three years.  For me, getting new developers in the workforce is going to solve many new things.”

The Android App is Google’s flagship product and the world’s most popular mobile operating system. As for its recent usage, Android captures 40% of the market share and its penetration in India is the highest. In fact, Android powers hundreds of millions of mobile devices in more than 190 countries around the world. It is the largest installed base of any mobile platform and still continues to grow. Every day another million users power up their Android devices for the first time and start looking for apps and other digital content. LPU students will get Android certifications as a part of their syllabus and that too at no additional cost.

Talking about the tie-up, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal said, “Now- a- days, more and more people are using smart phones and most of these phones are powered by Android. As such, each and every company is looking to recruit students who are expert in Android programming. This historical tie up will strengthen LPU students’ abilities to meet global challenges of industry ready manpower.”
