At the Freshmen Induction 2016, new commers to LPU had the privilege to meet the who’s who from different industries in a series of Guest Speaker sessions. From medicine to automobiles, social services, business, entrepreneurship, and even animation, industry experts graced Shri Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium to not only share their personal stories, but also give insight to the students on the rollercoaster that corporate life is today.
The first day was enlightening for students of medicine as Medical Advisor, Dr. Himanshu Tiwari, Mulatnai Pharmaceuticals Ltd. shared his journey and the challenges of the healthcare industry in a rapidly developing world. For the students of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering, meeting the Managing Director of Nissan Motors was definitely a highlight. Mr Arun Malhotra shared his journey from serving Mahindra & Mahindra as the chief of International Sales and Marketing for the automotive and farm sector to becoming the MD of Nissan India. He emphasized the need for innovation, creativity and progressive learning, taking examples from his life stories. He elaborated that he looks after the business development by generating strategies to maximize Nissan’s overall performance, managing product introduction and significantly increasing the presence and accessibility of the Nissan and Datsun brands through continuing network expansion. Mr Malhotra was joined by Mr Vinod Sood, Managing Director, Hughes Systique Corporation. Mr Sood is responsible for managing Hughes Systique India, a subsidiary of Hughes Systique Corporation (HSC) USA. Hughes Systique India is the global R&D center for HSC.
Students also had the chance to interact with Mr. Dharamveer Bansal, IAS Officer & President STPSTI. The aspirants of civil services were honored to have the opportunity to directly interact with such a distinguished officer. Officials of Coca Cola and Google gave their insight on business and entrepreneurship worlds. Mr.VivekAtray, motivational speaker, and Ex-Director Industries, Haryana emphasised the importance of creativity and humility and advised the students to never be obsessed with ‘I’ but to focus instead on the three ‘I’s of INSIGHT, INNOVATION, and INSPIRATION.
From the technical industry to business to even animation and hospitality management, the SSDM auditorium was jam packed day in day out for the speakers. Mr. Ashish Kulkarni, Founder PUNNARYUG, and Mr. Har Varma, Chief Creative Mentor, Toonz Animation were a special delight to Mass Media and Communication students. They mentored the freshmen to dream big, but stay practical. Jyoti Kamal, Senior Editor at TV 18 Broadcast, advised the students, “Punches in life let you know you are alive, if life is too smooth, you need to create some action.”
The series was an initiative of the Department of Student Affair, LPU for the Freshmen Induction 2016 in order to motivate students for university life as well as their careers ahead. LPU has time and again proven to cater to all aspects of a holistic educational platform with their practical approach to curriculum as well as frequent interactions with industry experts. The series was, in short, just a teaser to the freshmen of all the opportunities that life at LPU will bring their way.
