Band’s fusion music based on shlokas, Sufism, environmentalism, mythology and revolution enthralled all. The excitement generated by students’ response pushed the band to greater heights.

One of the nation’s largest and most influential music organizations, and the pioneers of Fusion Rock genre in India, Indian Ocean Band performed for thousands of students at LPU Campus, today. The band showcased the finest tracks from their favourite albums and their best-loved latest hit numbers. With this, 10-day Freshmen Induction Program-2013 of LPU concluded amid marvellous melodies. The students and the parents accompanying them enjoyed and appreciated the efforts made during induction program.

After Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s enthralling performances, this was a most enchanting musical delight  for LPU students by a popular and old band. The synergy among the present band members Rahul Ram, Nikhil Rao, Amit Kilam, Himanshu Joshi, and Tuheen Chakravorty made the evening magical. Wishing best of luck to the students for their academic journey, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal asked them to work hard and to be up to the expectations of their parents, teachers and the global society. Mr Mittal said, “It is, undoubtedly, motivating opportunity for students to learn real leadership and get engaged in doing so. In fact, one of the core values of Freshmen Induction Program is ‘leadership’ and students should imbibe it to the core. As one can lead only through positive actions, so students should learn and grow to serve for the greater good of the society.”

Motivating the students, the star attraction of the band Rahul Ram said, “We want to motivate youth about more than just music.  At LPU, we are really pleased and excited in our commitment to inspire students to be great citizens and professionals in future.” The band is famous for their albums Indian Ocean, Desert Rain, Kandisa, Jhini, 16/330 Khajoor Road, MTV Unplugged (India), the Very Best of Indian Ocean. The band has also created Film albums for forthcoming films like Satyagraha, Peepli Live, Swaraj, Black Friday, Hulla, Bhoomi, Yeh Mera India etc. Their best numbers “Subaah ki roshni bas ek nayi, baaki sab baasi baasi hai”,  “Kaun bhalaa kaun buraa, sab mein aks uskaa basaa”,  “Des Mera -an extremely lively, upbeat composition dedicated to the diversity of India”, “Jhini” let all reach to rapture.
