Yoga has been an ancient physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in India. It is thought to be some of the best ways to attain peace and keep one’s body healthy.

AIESEC in Jalandhar, under the aegis of the Division of Student Welfare, Lovely Professional University commenced its journey into ‘Yog Sandhya’ on International Yoga Day. The instructors included an international yoga instructor, Mrs. Saloni Chandra, and mindfulness expert, Mr. Umang Aggarwal. This online Yoga workshop named ‘Yoga Sandhya’ consisted of 7-day intensive yoga sessions.

It was a ‘Youth for Impact’ event which aims to work for a better and peaceful society that reflects AIESEC’s goals. It was the perfect blend of exercises and yoga positions for people of every age. There was a lot of diversity in the attendees. Everybody was excited to learn this art on the very first day. The excitement kept on multiplying each day.

On the first day, the yogic knowledge required to help weaken the effects of COVID was taught.

The second day was very dynamic as the instructors enriched the virtual platform with the Yoga Dance exercises. Attendees were enthralled to be able to shake off all the tension. Then there was a mind-calming session where guided meditation was taught by the yoga experts.

The third day marked the importance of breathing exercises and pranayams that gave the participants a new outlook to life. Every soul was content in that session, enjoying the company of bliss.

The fourth day was a full-fledged meditation day. The participants were guided throughout the session to overcome the fickle-mindedness. It made everybody much more focused.

The fifth day consisted of the practice of Surya Namaskar, which is believed to activate the 7 chakras in our body. Different variations of Surya Namskar were also advised for positive results.

The sixth and seventh days were explicitly planned for the youth and their problems. The experts advised the youth on basic stretches and the importance of diet and consistency in their lives.

Each day offered something precious to the participants. It could be clearly observed that yoga had the power to conquer the mind and achieve our goals in our lives. The participants shared their remarkable experiences and the changes they experienced after the session.
