The AIU Boxing Championship 2017 began at the Lovely Professional University campus on the 24th of January. This is the third time that LPU has had the privilege of hosting this event.
25th January witnessed the opening ceremony of this grand event for the women’s category, in which more than 80 teams from across India are participating. The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Hon. Chancellor LPU, Shri. Ashok Mittal, Presiding Officer Worthy Pro-Chancellor LPU, Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Guest of Honor Mr. N.k Nirwan (Chairman ROC), and Mr. Anil Bohidar (Vice President Boxing Federation of India).
The ceremony commenced with a flag hoisting followed by march past in which all the teams took part. All the flag bearers then came forward to take the oath to play the matches keeping in mind all the rules of the sport and with true sportsmanship spirit.
The guest of honor addressed the meet and then the Chief Guest declared the AIU Boxing Championship 2016-2017 open.
The Championship for women will conclude on 30th January, and the same day will mark the opening ceremony for Men Boxing championship.
