Targeting thousands of young voters, especially first-time voters, at the campus; Lovely Professional University and Phagwara Township Administration joined hands for “Cricket for a Cause”. The slogan upheld on this eve was “Play for Good Health: Vote for Healthy Democracy”. On these lines, three league matches were held between the teams of two collaborators- ‘LPU XI and Admin Phagwara XI. Matches were wittingly held at ‘Sunken Ground’ of the campus, which is an easily approachable area for a large number of students, so that entire youth capital at the campus stands awakened.

In fact, the country is presently celebrating “Lok Sabha Election 2019” as “Desh ka Maha Tyohaar”. Government agencies are enticing their people to ensure certain/maximum participation in voting procedures to elect the government of their own choice.

The team ‘LPU XI’ was captained by LPU Director of Media Relation Department Mr Aman Mittal; whereas, SDM Phagwara Mr Jai Inder Singh, PCS, led another team ‘Admin Phagwara XI’ as its Skipper. Phagwara Admin team was loaded with other bureaucrats and media persons including famous RJ “Pak Pak Deepak”, and LPU team had young voters. Along with the best display of cricket skills, messages of awakening in regard to celebrate and maintain the largest democratic set-up of India continuously flowed throughout the matches.

Marking the joint cricket initiative as brilliant one, SDM Jai Inder Singh shared: “‘Cricket for a Cause’ at LPU campus has proved at its best. No doubt, young students have out skilled us in physical playing; however, we stand winning in sending an impressive message for voting across thousands of students.  The playing has certainly brought a difference for thousands of young voters at LPU, as all of them have promised their active participation in the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the state.” Director Mr Aman Mittal expressed his happiness in LPU being an important part of the Election Commission of India with this CSR activity.
