* Celebrations stayed symbolic for a woman’s passion, duties, sacrifices

* “Teej fest symbolizes the women empowerment”: Mrs Rashmi Mittal , LPU Pro-Chancellor

The Student Welfare wing at Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated the ‘Haryali Teej Festival’ at the campus taking along thousands of female students, staff and faculty members. Celebrations were symbolic to remind all about the role of a woman in the society through her passion, duties, sacrifices and moral obligations towards union of the family and the nation.

LPU’s Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal chaired the festivities. Congratulating the women-folk world around, Mrs Mittal shared:” ‘Teej’ festival symbolizes women empowerment. On one hand, women are performing their top duties in all the sectors and segments of the society, and on the other it is a symbol of divinity to lead family, society and the world on to the paths of prosperity, progress, peace and allied notions.”

All participants at the social-cum-religious fest, celebrated on the 3 rd Lunar Day of “Shravan Month” every year, enjoyed the authentic fun of cultural showcasing, riding on swings, having henna & myriad coloured bangles on their hands and wearing ornaments. The fragrance of the Mehndi spread across the campus in glory of women empowerment. Participants also sang related folk songs and danced to the rhythms of Giddha.
