The LPUNEST Study Grant, worth up to Rs 2.11 crores, was disbursed at a grand ceremony to around 211 deserving students from across institutions and universities by Lovely Professional Institution, India’s leading university, to support them realize their aspirations without facing financial constraints. The endeavour is to provide impetus to the students based on their merit which is evaluated by factoring in students’ scores in the LPUNEST entrance exam. The institution already provides several other scholarships to its students.
The study grant was disbursed on behalf of LPU by Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Hon’ble Governor, Mizoram. Rs. 1 Crore 32 Lakhs Study Grant was given to 2nd Edition (2020 Batch students) and Rs. 79 Lakhs Study Grant was offered to 3rd Edition (2021 Batch students) of different disciplines including Engineering, Design, Hotel Management and Law. In total 2 Cr 11 Lakh was disbursed at the Award Ceremony.
A teacher turned able politician, keen administrator and hard taskmaster; Dr Kambhampati Hari Babu is the current Governor of Mizoram. Previously, he has also served as a Member of Parliament to the 16th Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam. He is recognized for his zeal and dedication to serving the nation.
Addressing all at the award ceremony, Hon’ble Governor Dr Kambhampati applauded international-level educational endeavours at LPU. Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he shared, “New education policy will play an important role in creating “aatma nirbhar bharat”(Self Reliant India), and in this regard, as a leading private university of the country, LPU is indeed fulfilling its special responsibility towards NEP-2020. The university is going ahead in the right direction.”
Hon’ble Governor specially thanked LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal for leading LPU as one of the best universities in India. He also anticipated that Chancellor Dr Mittal should develop more unicorns from LPU.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mital, Chancellor, LPU said, “We established the award with an intent that no skilled student should be denied access to a world-class education due to financial constraints. We hope that these young people succeed in the future and make us all proud of what they have accomplished. Each year, we will work towards increasing the number of students who benefit from our grants and financial aid programmes. Hence, we will strive to make LPUNEST bigger each year.”
Before this, the Hon’ble Governor was welcomed at the campus by LPU Pro Vice Chancellors Prof Dr Lovi Raj Gupta, Prof Dr Sanjay Modi, Executive Dean & Registrar Dr Monica Gulati and Sr Director Dr Rajeev Sobti.
The University awards scholarships to its students based on several factors, including their performance in prerequisite exams (10+2 or graduation), the LPUNEST (LPU National Entrance and Scholarship Test), sports, culture, R&D, co-curricular activities, social service, and bravery accolades. For orphans, physically disabled students, and individuals with a history in the military, there are additional special scholarships available. Under the “LPUNEST Study Grant,” the university has chosen to recognize talented and meritorious students regardless of whether they are enrolled at LPU or not. The goal of the “LPUNEST Study Grant” is to solidify the university’s dedication to honouring worthy and excellent students.
