The Refresher Course on Research Methodology and Data Analysis got off to a flying start with 82 participants from 33 institutions based in 10 States Pan India. Addressing the participants, Dr. Sanjay Modi, Course Director and Executive Dean, Lovely Faculty of Business and Arts emphasized the fact that research should be meaningful and contributing towards the community, environment and problem-solving. He advised the participants to widen the bandwidth of their thought horizon along with the essential depth. He remarked that the need of the moment was interdisciplinary and cross-domain research and that the only way to achieve it is through collaborative initiatives.

The Course Convener and Head Human Resource Development Center, Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor and Associate Dean shared the course flow and the bandwidth in terms of key learning outcomes, training strategy and assessment scheme. She emphasized that the entire resource panel had very thoughtfully designed the course flow and the pedagogy that would be experiential, learner-driven and instructor mentored. She also spelled out the assessment and evaluation pattern that would ensure practical outcomes. She acknowledged the presence of a diverse range of participants in terms of demographic representation, academic profile and organizational background.

The opening session was taken by Course Convener and Head, Mittal School of Business, Prof. Dr. Rajesh Verma. In his inimitable style, he focused on the way of research and ‘Curiosity Driven Research’ as the way forward. His simple but logical examples made the learning not only engaging but very easy to grasp.

During the second session, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Associate Professor, Mittal School of Business, the subject matter expert started with a story and steadily led the participants to the basics of research, selection of topic, differentiating between basic and applied research. His discussion leading technique and eliciting questions kept the learning a two-way process and engaged the participants in a purposeful dialogue. The day ended with the Course Coordinator, Mr. Sarabjit S Kwatra thanking the resource panel, redefining the Course Flow, assessment process and resource sharing mode.
