Ms Anshu Jamsenpa of Arunachal Pradesh recently created history by setting the women’s world record for a double ascent of the Mt. Everest within a single season. LPU applauds her achievement and takes special pride in it, as Ms Jamsenpa’s jacket bore the LPU logo when she stood atop the world’s highest peak.
In 2015, Ms Jamsenpa was our guest at the annual cultural fest ‘One India’, where the theme was ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’. Women achievers from across India were celebrated at the event and Ms Jamsenpa was honoured for her first double ascent of Mt Everest in 10 days in the year 2011 and her third successful attempt two years later in 2013. She made us a promise to wear the LPU logo on her next ascent of the Everest. Two years later, today, she has fulfilled her promise, gladdening our hearts and making us proud.
Congratulating Ms Jamsenpa on her record feat, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal said,“This achievement of Ms Anshu is a tribute to all the women of our country who strive to write an illustrious story of Indian women, for the world to read and follow. We are also extremely thankful to her for her generosity in favouring LPU to glow along with her on the pinnacle of the world.”
