LPU-NSS Volunteer, Gaurav Singhal, a B.Tech Computer Science Engineering student got selected for Prestigious National Service Scheme (NSS) Award 2018-19. The award has been conferred by the President of India on 24 September 2020. In this award, Gaurav received a citation, a silver medal, and INR 1 lakh.
LPU-NSS Volunteer Gaurav Singhal has been selected from over 32 lakh NSS volunteers from 298 Universities, 42 School Councils, and Vocational Institutions in the country. President of India Ram Nath Govind conferred National Service Scheme Award for the year 2018-2019 to Gaurav Singhal. He was honoured for his contribution to society for free education, awareness for de-addiction camps, and campaign against social evils.
President Ram Nath Govind said that the service of humanity and the nation has been a tradition of the Indian value system. Along with the President, Sports minister Kiren Rijiju also attended the ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi.
What is the National Service Scheme (NSS)?
NSS is a Central Sector Scheme started in 1969 by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. National Service Scheme provides an opportunity for the student at the school, university, and college level to take part in various community service activities and serve our community.
The sole aim of the National Service Scheme is to provide exposure to young students of our country in delivering community service and serving the community.
