Magnitude 2016 opened with great fan fare!
Magnitude is an annual celebration that welcomes freshmen to the new, competitive yet playful journey that is life at LPU. It is said to be the Gateway to Youth Vibe, the mega year end fest that is held on the campus in April every year.
On August 29th, LPU witnessed the grand opening ceremony of Magnitude 2016, organized by the Division Of Youth Capital (DYC), a department under the Division of Student Affairs. At 5 p.m. the event stareted with a flashmob, covering the entire stretch between the UniMall and the Presidential Stage. Next, an act by a group of DYC anchors introduced the various aspects of the annual fest – Youth Vibe. The event was graced by the presence of Er. H.R Singla, Director General, LPU, and Mrs. Suman Sharma, Head of Cultural Department, DSA. Various cultural performances beautified the event, which included acts by AIU, Freshmen Got Talent, and LPU Got Talent winners.
This four hour, epic celebration included programs like solo, couple, and group dance, rap, and other musical performances, comedy and theatre acts, and ramp walk. The highlight of the event was the performance by a group of students from Assam who showcased Assamese culture through folk dance and music. These performances mesmerized the Lovely audience.
The theme of Youth Vibe 2016, which is ‘Nostalgia 90s’ (Cartoons) was also announced at the event. The evening ended with the prizes being distributed among winners of Freshmen Got Talent 2016 for cultural and literacy events. The labels Mr. and Ms. Freshmen were bagged by Anmol Sharma and Ritu Saini respectively, and the overall championship was awarded to Ms. Gurpreet Kaur (Theatre).
