Three Jackets – multiple occasion use!

Winter is right around the corner and for sure all of us will be looking for jackets in the next couple of months. Whether you are a sweatshirt and jeans guy or the debonair type, having at least one jacket (if not more) that can be used for multiple occasions isn’t a bad idea.

The three types of Jacket I will be talking about have been around for quite a while now and they keep resurfacing every fall in the same silhouette with minute variations in pattern or colour. They work for every body type, and though very basic,  they exude a good sense of style without having to try really hard. These Jackets can be used for messy streetwear to a highly preppy look.

In the next write up will talk about the possible combinations these three staple pieces can be used in for different occasions. But for today let me give you a brief idea about the type of jackets which anyone can pull off with ease. So if you are looking for a jacket or two you can try investing in these this winter.

Bomber Jackets

A Bomber jacket is a lifesaver and I am sure most guys wear this – it can be used for formals to very basic casual wear. This jacket doesn’t require a huge personality to wear, instead it brings gives off a laid back yet prepped up aesthetic – a good look on   anyone.

Here are two references- The black one being the basic bomber jacket, and the one in navy is a military aviator inspired bomber jacket. Stick to neutral colours like grey, navy, black, and brown.

Denim Jackets

I think it is safe to say, everyone loves denim. Denim is the most basic apparel we know, but knowing what shade really works for our skin tone or body type is something that isn’t easy to figure out- reason being all the denims look similar. But over the years, through personal experience and some people I have helped, I realized lightly stone wash or dark navy are universal shades .

Denim jackets give the wearer an edgy, confident look that lies safely in the middle of Mr. Too Smart and Mr. Rowdy. Here are some samples from very basic to a little bit over the top. But for sure they will suit everyone.

Pea coats

Not a fan of suits? Then a pea coat is your best friend. It not only gives a good structure to your upper body but also makes your entire body look slender. Wear it with dark navy jeans and you’ll look like you are one of those CIA agents (How cool is that ?). This piece is timeless and every guy should own at least one.

You can even get it tailor made, but just make sure you ask for tweed fabric or soft wool. One tip – the perfect size pea coat should be to the tip of your index finger when you stand at attention. Here are some samples

PS: How to wear these jackets will be discussed in the upcoming write-ups.

Stay tuned 😉
