The President of Afghanistan would be receiving the University’s first Honoris Causa degree…in recognition of his outstanding work towards uplifting his country.
LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal announced today that LPU will hold its 3rd annual Convocation on May 20, 2013 at LPU Campus. He declared that it would be an even more special occasion than ususal as the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee would be the Chief Guest and would be seen together with the President of our neighbouring country Afghanistan.
He mentioned that Mr. Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan would be receiving the University’s first Honoris Causa degree. The honour would be bestowed on him in recognition of his outstanding work in the area of social uplift of the country. The ceremony would be presided over by Shri Shivraj V Patil, Governor, Punjab, and Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab, would be the Guest of Honour.
Preparation for the ceremony is going on in full swing. The anticiapated arrival of two Presidents on the same day has thrown state administration in a tizzy of security arangements. Both the Punjab State and LPU administrations are working day and night to make the event a grand success.
This being a very high security function, the university has requested all the students and their parents to visit its website for the latest updates/guidelines regarding the convocation ceremony. The grand event will be followed by the University Alumni Meet.
