I like to stay busy. I am a workaholic, and I like to be creative. – Glenn Danzig

Personally, I am one of those who has always got her hands full with something and running around on the campus doing the next big thing on my to-do list. I am a member of a dozen clubs, an active media coordinator for the university; organize college events, freelancing for a couple websites, getting a diploma by distance learning and currently completing my third internship with a magazine. Sounds a lot, right! But trust me I really enjoy my day when I know that I am doing what I love and productively using my time along with balancing a social life and leisure activities. For me, if I don’t have something to do for too long I lose my mind. Not to confuse this with being ‘Workaholic’, if you are passionate about the work you do, if you chase the experiences, you’ll have a great time in college everyday! Here are some reasons why being the busy bee is beneficial to you in college –

  1. You are going to learn, a lot!

Whether you are organizing the next big fashion show or writing press releases for the university website, not only you are learning from it but also gaining important skills such as time management, efficiency, punctuality etc. A person working on-field gains more professional skills than others who are only exposed to the subjective values of knowledge.

Perks of being ‘busy’ on campus

  1. It makes your days exciting and you’re never bored

Having places to go, things to do, people to meet makes it hard for you to have time to get bored. Something is happening every second and you are jumping from one adventure to another. It does not just work but also the perks of it such as making new friends, having fun and treating yourself with memories you’ll never forget.

Perks of being ‘busy’ on campus

  1. Leisure time becomes more valuable

For a college student who is always doing stuff, getting a weekend off or a vacation is a blessing. Because such occasion is very rare for you, it will be much appreciated and enjoyed. It will be a luxury and you will not take such opportunity for granted.

  1. You’ll feel content and confident with yourself

Most of us tend to slump during opportunities and regret not being able to enjoy the benefits later on. With every single accomplishment, no matter how small it is, you’ll become more confident. Most of us cry over how ‘simple’ our lives are after we see our friends on social media enjoy a party or travelling. We never see the hard work that goes behind stepping up to those luxuries that now they are enjoying. If you are constantly putting in an effort, you’ll be content and appreciate the life you’ve built for yourself.

Perks of being ‘busy’ on campus

  1. You are likely to be happier

Research and studies have repeatedly found that people who are busy are also happier. This is because of the perks that come along with the work they do. But there is a difference between being ‘busy and stressed’ and ‘busy and happy’. The key is doing work that you love and finding the balance between work and play.

College life is a stage in your life when you withhold the potential to work hard and productive. You have the energy to run like clockwork, you don’t have many responsibilities and you are young enough to break barriers. You have all the time in the world to chase your dream, fall over it and get up again to do whatever you like. There are no boundaries, millions of opportunities and ample resources when you are in college to help you become the best of yourself. Remember, hard work never goes in vain. So, this semester get up and get busy!
