A group of 13 students and faculty from Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom (UK) have reached Lovely Professional University under the ‘Student Exchange Programme’. The students belong to three disciplines, namely Food Technology, Food Safety and Public Environmental Health. The faculty accompanying them are Mr Henry Dawson and Dr James Blaxland, both being specialists and researchers in their respective fields.

 

All of them are at LPU for two weeks to learn and experience the Indian pedagogy and culture. Their academic deliveries are mixed with a lot of industrial visits, simulated training and hands-on practical training in the technically-savvy LPU labs. One of their industrial visits was to the huge Coca-Cola plant located in Punjab. Visiting students experienced a rich cultural immersion by visiting the Golden Temple, Amritsar and learning different regional dance forms of India as well as the contemporary hip-hop Bollywood dance.

 

Visiting UK students underwent a rigorous screening process for their selection into the student exchange programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Therefore, all of them were extremely open and receptive to learning the Indian pedagogy and culture. One of the students, Natalie Eades shared that her visit to LPU was remarkable as it exposed her to the modern ways of teaching followed by LPU. She also shared: “Being at LPU has been an enchanting experience and I have gained novel academic and cultural knowledge.” Richard Lee Nurse expressed his excitement by sharing that he was pleasantly surprised to witness and learn the diverse Indian culture; whereas, James Blaxland held LPU curriculum and pedagogy in high esteems. All of them conveyed unanimously that LPU’s Student Exchange Programme is sure to play a pivotal role in their lives. Head of International Affairs at LPU, Mr Aman Mittal shared: “Every year, hundreds of students from countries like USA and UK arrive at LPU under the Student Exchange Programme. LPU strongly prides in gaining worthy recognition both in India as well as in foreign countries.”
