Every time I looked through that window pane..All I could see was them…making mortar, building those brick blocks, fixing the wooden frames, welding, shaping the granite…from dawn to dusk! They were so immersed in their work, so determined to build that house in accordance with the design.
People in the same trade have all got their names and designations like: Engineer, Architect, Interior designer! But who owns the house for now!? The owner? May be it’s the owner who has the right over it…but then I can see these men engaged in different tasks work the whole day, live in the same partially built house which is not just their workplace but home for now. ..home for that span of time till their contract is done.
When people look at them, they seem to be dirty and that’s because they deal with mud and sand..We tend to call them filthy, never remembering the effort they have put into building our houses and palaces…We claim those as our houses but those were their home at first. .they owned them in a way we never will all the dust and dirt that is the reality of our dream homes…
And now that these thoughts have passed my mind, next time when I see someone bathed in mortar and sweat I would honour him as someone who is fulfilling another’s dream….
