Do you believe in destiny?
Do you believe that no matter how far or near, some people are just meant to find each other? When destiny calls and fate unravels to allow two souls to meet, and define the meaning of love, then we should all realize that, no matter how unpredictable life may be, it was all written in the stars for them to run into each other.
The dark heavy clouds covered the whole area, and the college was filled with students running around to avoid the harsh rain that persisted the entire day. It was the 1st day of class, and the students were all going around purchasing books and stationaries. He reached the room where the books were being sold, and stood in the line. Chatters and gossips filled up the room as the students talked about different topics, that we can only imagine. As he was waiting impatiently for his turn to come up, he heard his friend call him from afar. He turned to look to find his friend carrying a handful of books running towards him. They talked about stuffs like hostels, mess, books etc. and just as he was about to leave, he called someone from behind. She was dressed like any ordinary girl, and so much like his friend, she too had a handful of books on her, but something was different about her. Maybe it was her eyes, the way she talked, the way she laughed, or the innocence he felt in her. He felt something deep inside and deep down, maybe he had an epiphany of something unordinary. They bade goodbye to each other and went on their separate ways. Days went by unnoticed as the busy schedule took its course, and the routine lectures kept on going day after day. He had already met some new people and made quite many friends as few weeks passed by.
It was another morning as usual, with no sign and indication that the rain would stop anytime soon. He was walking at a fast pace from his hostel (more like running) in order to avoid the rain at his best. Just as he was about to walk towards the main road, he heard his name being called out from behind. He turned to look and it was ‘HER’, the girl he met on that day in college. Nobody could have guessed what was going on in his mind ( or heart), but all he could see was that beautiful girl standing right in front of her holding an umbrella. He wanted to say something, he wanted to talk, and he wanted to say how happy he was to see her again. But words failed to come out of him, and just as he was about to tell something, ‘SHE’ handed him an extra umbrella which she was carrying in her bag. They were walking beside each other, their umbrella’s making contact every now and then. He knew he could listen to her talk for an eternity if she wanted to, and deep down he wanted this moment to last for a long time. As they neared the entrance to the college, they both knew that there was something much more to them, they didn’t realize it yet, but there was a connection with perfect synchronization between them. They were much too young and emotionally occupied to understand what it was, and what it would become. He handed her the umbrella and told her that he hoped to see her again, and what she replied got him all worked up that day, with the umbrella in her hands she said ‘I’d love that’.
It was the start of something new and something fresh. It was the beginning of something profound and beautiful. The start of a relationship that would last till eternity. It all started when he met her, and when she handed him the extra umbrella she had. Everything turned out so perfect, and the timing seemed just so much in resonance to their existence. Love can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere. It’s just that we need to believe in destiny and fate, that one day we would meet someone just like 'When Two Souls Met' to start a beautiful journey together.
