Human Resource Development Center(HRDC), LPU is organizing a Workshop on Case Method of Teaching on October 14, 2017.
About The Case Method of Teaching:
The case method is widely recognized as an enormously powerful approach to teaching-learning, especially in business, commerce, economics & hospitality education. It combines academic theory with practical application. This workshop will provide case teachers/research scholars with an opportunity to explore the case method and assess its benefits for use in their own classes. This intensive and interactive hands-on workshop will immerse participants in the case method of teaching through a mix of participation, case analysis, and interactive exercises.
Who the Workshop is for:
This workshop is designed for the current & prospective teachers in academic institutions and corporate trainers.
This workshop will benefit:
- Teachers who are new to the case based teaching
- Teachers who have case teaching experience, and want to further improve their case teaching effectiveness.
- Research scholars/students who intend to join teaching profession in due course of time
- Corporate trainers who would like to use case method in their training.
The overall objective of the workshop is to strengthen the skills, competencies, and abilities of academic faculty and research scholars so that they can teach business management cases which will develop analytical and leadership competencies in their students.
The workshop focuses on the pedagogy of the case method. During the workshop, the participants will learn:
- To create a case teaching plan
- To deliver an engaging case study session.
- To establish a link between the learning points and theoretical concepts.
- Different approaches for managing class discussion.
- To adjust the approach for case teaching to different audiences.
Resource Person:
Dr.Rajesh Verma is Professor of Strategy at Mittal School of Business(ACBSP, USA Accredited), LPU.
Having written & published over 16 business cases on companies like JCT, Dainik Bhaskar, Sonalika etc. with The Case Centre, UK., Rajesh also regularly conducts case teaching and case writing workshops.
He is a recipient of UGC Junior Research Fellowship; Research Appreciation Award-2016 from Smt Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister of HRD, the government of India;2nd prize in national level marketing case competition and a research grant from UK India Education & Research Initiative(UKIERI) for a project in University of Northampton, UK.
